The Cuming County Economic Development Program (CCED) in partnership with Nebraska Public Power District, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, and Nebraska Economic Development District, has started the process of strategic planning throughout the county.
Our programmatic goal is a county wide goal. As an economic development entity we see the need start out with the gensis of the CCED project by creating a neccessary tool for achieving economic development goals. This current planning effort includes each participating municipality in Cuming County: Bancroft, Beemer, West Point, and Wisner.
We recently completed the Villages of Bancroft and Beemer's economic development workshops. Each community had a unique focus base for there respective community, and a hightened understanding of the need to develop a plan to attack and fulfill various community needs. Our next step is to complete the workshops in both Wisner (November 3rd -5:45pm @ Wisner-Pilger Jr/Sr High School) and West Point (November 9th - 5:45pm @ Nielsen Community Center) before reviewing each communities desired needs, as well as, strengths and challenges.
Once this planning process is complete and each municipality has had the opportunity to review and approve of the process, CCED will work to create a county wide comprehensive plan for economic development.
The CCED program is excited about the community support thus far in the process, and we hope to see more participation as this county-wide effort continues.
It is a tremendous achievement for each community to completely invest in the development of their individual areas. To maintain, sustain, and prepare for the future is not an easy task, but it is a task that each community in Cuming County has begun to tackle. After all, we are in the State of Nebraska where "The Good Life" persists...strategic planning is just a small piece of "The Good Life" model!
